If you had any doubt that we are in a real war for the heart, soul, and survival of our nation, consider the ramifications of a Democratically controlled Senate as outlined in the Capitol Hill Prayer Alert below.
The enemy is not sleeping. He knows how close we our to judgement as the blood of 40 million innocents has been shed in this country alone and our support for Israel continues to waiver (Gen 12:3). He knows our strength is in our ability to pray and intercede so that God may show mercy. Therefore he is doing everything possible to prevent us from praying. Gideon's army was only 300, but they prevailed against overwhelming odds.
Will you pray?
The new prayer emphasis is focused on President Bush's current crises with Republican Senator James Jeffords (VT) and others who are about to switch parties.
It may seem "harmless", however, if he does switch parties, it may adversely impact President Bush's ability to accomplish his pro-life agenda and his ability to get pro-life Supreme Court Justices approved.
Please read this Capitol Hill Prayer Alert and be determined to pray -- alone, with your prayer partner, or with your prayer group as applicable, and pray for unity among the republicans, support for a pro-life agenda, that our Prsident's faith would not waiver, that abortion would no longer be the "law" of the land, for national and world-wide repentance, and for God's continued mercy.
DEMOCRAT MAJORITY IN SENATE?
Only Prayer Will Avert Wholesale Disaster "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand" (Mt 12:25).
Overview:
Senate Democrats smell blood. For weeks they have aggressively courted Republican Senator James Jeffords (VT) in an effort to entice him to switch parties. --Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R-RI) is also a candidate for switch. Chafee and Jeffords have taken lead roles in opposing the President's tax cut, education plan and other elements of his agenda. Sen. John McCain is also a wildcard. His chances to win a presidential race could increase were he a Democrat.
--Democrats continue a "death-watch" over Sen. Strom Thurmond. The 98-year-old's incapacity would also give them automatic control of the Senate.
--Majority Leader Trent Lott (TX) has discounted "rumors" that Jeffords intends to switch, but Jeffords' office responds to media inquiries by saying, "he is the most conservative member of the Vermont delegation, regardless of his party label."
What Democrat control of the Senate means?
--Liberal Sen. Tom Daschle (D-SD) will become Majority Leader.
Democrats will control the Senate schedule and agenda, deciding what and when bills will be considered. Democrats will appoint all committee chairmen and determine the make up the committees.
--Democrats will be able to block confirmation for any or all of President Bush's conservative appointments to the federal and Supreme Courts. No pro-life appointees will be approved.
--Democrats will decide which treaties to consider including those long withheld from consideration by Sen. Jessie Helms (NC) like the UN Treaty on the Rights of the Child.
--Democrats will be able to stop (or rewrite) all President Bush's popular initiatives: tax cuts, vouchers, arctic drilling, Kyoto, nuclear power, etc., not just play a hand in modifying them.
--No pro-life legislation, no matter how weak, will be passed out of a Democrat-controlled Senate.
Is there any hope?
--Some Democrats could switch! Conservative Democrats who often vote with the Republicans could neutralize a Jeffords-Chafee bailout. Sen. John Breaux (LA), and Sen. Zell Miller (GA) fit the bill, but neither has suggested he might do so. Liberal Democrats will aggressively pursue both of them to make sure such a scenario never materializes.
It is frightening to consider that our Republic hangs on such a thin thread. America is in a Holy War. Liberal Democrat control of the Senate would thrust us into an ugly new phase. We could enter another chaotic period akin to the weeks after Election Night 2000, when liberals attempted to suspend the constitution and overthrow our new president. God intervened then, attending to the cries of his people.
Praying Christians must not grow weary and abandon the fight. Our trust must be in Almighty God!

--Heavenly Father, You are Sovereign over men & nations. You delivered us from the unthinkable last fall. Now, INTERVENE to ascertain righteous control of the U.S. Senate. Sift the hearts of men.
